Reasons Why I Like The Earthwise TC70001 Tiller And Cultivator

We are fast approaching Spring, and in a short time we will all be working on our flowerbeds and gardens.  Having a tool like the Earthwise TC70001 Tiller and Cultivator to help you with the hard work of turning over your garden/flowerbed soil makes life just a little bit better and easier.  Now don’t get me wrong, like everyone else, after being “cooped up” in my house all winter long, I am more than happy to just be able to get outside and work in my yard/garden in the warmer weather.  But, having tools that make my yard work easier (like the Earthwise TC70001) just makes it that much more enjoyable!

The first big reason why I like the Earthwise TC70001 is its light weight.   This Earthwise tiller/cultivator only weighs about 25 pounds.  That makes it really easy for me to push it around on its 5-1/2 inch wheels, to maneuver it in my garden/flowerbed, to lift it up (it has nicely situated lifting handle located on the motor housing of the tiller) and put it on a rack in my garage when I am through with it, or to lift it into the back of my car or truck to take it someplace else.  If you have ever used or moved a large gas-powered tiller/cultivator (which can weigh anywhere from 125 to 325 pounds), you know why this is an important reason.  Don’t get me wrong – - – that is not to say that the large tillers/cultivators don’t have their use.  If you have hard clay soil and are putting in a garden or flowerbed for the first time, a large heavy-duty tiller/cultivator is what you want to use that first time and I have done that many times before renting one from local tool rental stores.   But once you have your garden/flowerbeds established and mulched, a smaller and lighter tiller like the Earthwise is all you really need.

The second reason is the compact physical size of the Earthwise TC70001.  Large tiller/cultivators are, well, large.  They can be bigger than your lawn mower, and thus take up a lot of storage space in your garage.  The dimensions of this Earthwise tiller (when set up) are that it stands about 40 inches high (handle to the ground), the handle bars are about 15 inches wide, and the lower part of the tiller where the tines are is about 12 inches.  To store my TC70001, I just push it up under my lawn mower’s handle bars, and consequently my tiller’s handle bars only stick out about a foot.  During the winter, I can unscrew the top handle of the tiller and fold it down and the tiller fits completely under my mower’s handle bars and doesn’t stick out at all.

A third reason is that since my yard is only about 115′ by 150′ (probably about the average size yard), I can easily reach any part of my yard with my Earthwise tiller using an 150 ‘ electrical cord.  The electrical cord provides the tiller with a constant source of power, and I don’t have to worry about getting a gas-powered tiller’s cold gas engine to start.

Fourth, this tiller does a really nice job of tilling my soil (an 11 inch cutting width and an 8-1/2 inch cutting depth) – - – which is the bottom line for any tiller.  For the most part, I have established flower beds, but will occasionally put in a small garden along a portion of my fence to grow vegetables (e.g., green beans, tomatoes, black eyed peas).  This powerful (8 1/2 ampere motor) tiller is ideal for meeting both uses!

The last reason I want to mention is the very reasonable $120 price that this tiller sells for.  This is a great price for this well made and well designed tiller.  I haven’t been able to find a better tiller/cultivator for this price.

If you need a new tiller, I strongly suggest that you take a close look at the Earthwise TC70001 Tiller and Cultivator. My only caution to you is that if you do decide to get the Earthwise TC70001, that you don’t delay getting it.  This tiller is both well liked and highly regarded and sometimes not available through Amazon during certain times of the year because of the high demand for it.
